Immediate, high-urgency representation for life-altering events.

●     Who this helps: Any responder involved in a shooting, fatal accident, or use-of-force event.

●     What happens next:

     1. Public Safety Statement: You provide a brief statement at the scene (direction of shots, suspects at large), perform a round count, and take photos of your equipment. No walkthroughs or other evidence given.

   2. Administrative Leave: This is standard, not a punishment. Use this time to rest.

   3. The Interview: After 24-48 hours, we accompany you to a formal interview with investigators (DOJ/DCI) to provide your full account.

●     What to bring: Do not bring anything to the scene. Have your Union Rep contact us immediately. Later, we will need your holster/equipment list and any body-cam reference.

●     FAQs:

○     Should I talk to investigators immediately? No. Science shows memory is distorted by trauma. We ensure you get the mandatory “rest period” first.

○     Will I be sued personally? Generally, the city must “indemnify” you (pay for your defense) if you were on duty.

○     When do I get my weapon back? It will be held as evidence. We coordinate with the armory for a replacement.
